Dr. Carlos Villar

Dr. Carlos Villar, pride of the Argentine science and true precursor of the today internationally recognized Lysatetherapy, he perfected and applied, at the end of the past century, his revolutionary technic of obtainment of the first lysates, to which he generically named Villar Serum .

In that era, Dr. Villar was Surgeon Major of the Army, with the rank of Health General, and it was in this area where he initially experimented with the properties of his Serum. And he made it with notable success.

In effect, in a categorically - more than empirical - demonstration of the therapeutic goodness of his product, he cured, in the year 1901, more than 50 conscripts that were suffering from the so feared tuberculosis, that in those years and in the great majority of the cases, was a fatal pathology.

The newspapers ("La Nación") as well as the magazines ("Caras y Caretas") of that era, devoted their columns to complimentary chronicles to that matter.

On the other hand, we would like to point out that in the Hall of our establishmentit, in Rosario, presides a great table - parchment, in embroidered silk, with the title "Honor a la Ciencia" (Honor to Science) and with the date 11 of January of 1902, a numerous group of persons affected with tuberculosis, yields admiration and gratitude to Dr. Villar by haveing achieved, through his Serum, their complete cure.

That initial product, a Hydrolysated enzymatic composed of animal muscle and organs, was not initially accepted by the Argentine medical science, that did not see in it more than a simply peptone, a "meat digestion". But, being proven the adage of the fact that "nobody is prophet is his land", American and European scientist are the ones who, throughout the last years, have been proposing the bases that endorse the therapeutic efficiency of the lysates in various diseases.

But there were persons in our country who, with solid faith in the scientific intuition of Dr. Villar, continued with the road undertaken by him. They were his children Mariano and Alfredo who, incorporating new sources into the main process, obtained products also differentiated in their therapeutic capacities and certified thus a wide curative alternative before such a great diversity of pathologies. Alternative that, with the passing of the years, has beed constituting in habitual and successful resource of outstanding professionals.

Alfredo Villar is the one who, with his brother Mariano demised, he founds in Rosario and in the year 1950, the Institute of Lysatetherapy Argentina Dr. Carlos L. Villar, of which we are proud heirs. And not alone of its active material but to the most important: its tradition, seriousness, vocation of service and scientific responsibility by its products.
